Companies and organizations must cope with the challenge of a demanded sustainability. Collaboration and competition represent a promising approach. The objective of this work is to develop strategies for competition and collaboration which enable increased economical benefit while boosting sustainability issues. The research is focused on value creation strategies, competition, collaboration and their impact as drivers for technological progress. Analysis based on scenarios and forecast reports about value creation in the remanufacturing area of production equipment are carried out. The target is to collect and rank criteria for an evaluation of business strategy regarding sustainability. Existing business strategies for industrial value creation are transferred to the field of remanufacturing analyzed as well as characterized regarding the gathered criteria to support sustainable acting between partners in value creation networks for remanufacturing of production equipment. Advances in Sustainable Manufacturing. . URL [Accessed: 12.08.2020]The issue of upgrading in global value chains has been treated in the literature, but there are still gaps to be filled in. One issue that still needs further investigation is the relation of business strategy and evolution of firms in global value chains, known as upgrading in the literature. In this paper, we have the objective of examining the occurrence and quality of upgrading in internationalized Information Technology firms of Brazilian origin. We employed the multiple case study method researching eight IT firms to study the issue. Different from what is expected, facts presentedin the paper imply that although global value chains and upgrading are confirmed as useful concepts, not all the findings the literature presents converge with what this research brings. As for example, results do not converge with what was found in the literature for clothing. In other results, we confirmed what is in the literature, most notably, having the evolution in the chain blocked by clients and also competitive marginalization. Similar to any research, this one has limitations, which we list at the end of the manuscript.

In: RAI Revista de Administração e Inovação : Volume 13 URL [Accessed: 12.08.2020]This paper proposes the concepts of Communities of Enterprise (CoEs) and Virtual Communities of Enterprise (VCoEs) to describe business networking patterns in regional areas where there is no central organisational or industry focus and small and medium enterprises dominate the economy. Design/methodology/approach – Based on analysis of the literature this paper builds on theoretical understandings of knowledge management, clustering and regional development. Findings – The concept of CoEs is most appropriate for regional areas characterised by many small enterprises in diverse industries. CoEs enhance development of regional clusters by contributing to their intellectual capital, innovation culture, value networks and social capital. The incorporation of ICT creates VCoEs which provide added potential by enabling regions to expand their learning potential through innovation. Research limitations/implications – This paper provides a conceptual foundation for empirical research into regional network or cluster development using ICT. Practical implications – Virtual Communities of Enterprise value creation potential is substantial but only when the socioeconomic elements of regional clusters are understood. The VCoE approach addresses the fact that without an industry focus it can be difficult to engage and link SMEs from different industries, although this is where the greatest potential for value creation in regional clusters is to be found. Originality/value – The Virtual Communities of Enterprise (VCoEs) concept specifically addresses the unique requirements of SMEs in regions. It has the potential to provide value for regions in a way few ICT based regional development initiatives have been able to achieve.
